Nepticula turbulentella Wocke, 1861

E. argyropeza is distributed throughout Europe, except for the north-eastern parts, the Iberian peninsula, the large Mediterranean islands and some Balkan countries (Karsholt & Nieukerken 2010). Vertically, its distribution is documented only from 300 - 640 m a.s.l. so far (Kurz & Kurz 2010).

The species inhabits edges of woodland, wooden banks of brooks and rivers, as well as parks. The imagines are on the wing in May and June. The larvae feed from late September till November (Kurz & Kurz 2010).

Larva. The larva feeds in leafes of Populus tremula. First, it lives in the petiole. Nearly fullfed, it enters the blade of the leaf, where its feeding leads to a blotch with the frass heaped near the petiole. Around the blotch, the leaf stays green for a long time, which becomes very conspicious in the fallen, otherwise bright yellow leafes in autumn.
