Nepticula minorella Zimmermann, 1944

Distribution:

The species has been recorded from most parts of Europe, except Iceland, Portugal, Sardinia, Sicily, some Balkan countries and north-eastern Europe (Karsholt & Nieukerken 2010). The vertical distribution is documented so far from 300 - 1150 m a.s.l. (Kurz & Kurz 2010).

Biology:

E. angulifasciella inhabits sunny edges and clearings of woodland, especially mixed deciduous-coniferous forests, but also clear-cuttings and may even be found in gardens. The species is univoltine, with imagines in May and June, and larvae feeding in September and October. Occasionally, one larva has been found feeding already in June (Kurz & Kurz 2010).

Stages in development:

Larva. The larva feeds venter upwards in leafes of various species of Rosa, among them Rosa rugosa or Rosa canina agg., first in a contorted gallery, which later leads to an irregular blotch. A syntopic utilization of the foodplant by Stigmella anomalella (Goeze, 1783) has been observed (Kurz & Kurz 2010).
