Distribution:

The species has been found in most parts of Europe, except Iceland, the Iberian peninsula, the large Mediterranean islands, north-eastern Europe and some Balkan countries (Karsholt & Nieukerken 2010). Its vertical distribution reaches at least from near sea level to 1050 m a.s.l. (Kurz & Kurz 2010).

Biology:

Biotopes are shady and humid places in mixed deciduous forests and on clear-cuttings, rich in tall herb vegetation and bushes. Here, the imagines fly in June and July, whereas the larvae can be found feeding from late August till October (Kurz & Kurz 2010).
