Description of adults: Examined: 1 of f. groumi. Wing expanse: 51.8 mm. Head black, with short, distant and scarce whitish-grey scales; frons with long, distant, hair-like scales, mixed dirty white, orange brown and black; labial palpi only slightly longer than head, strongly bent upwards, with short, dirty white and long, downwardly directed, distant, black and dirty white, hair-like scales; eyes big, elliptical, brown; ocelli well visible; antennae about 1/4 of forewing length, shining black; thorax black, anteriorly denser, laterally and posteriorly scarcer covered with long, brown- to grey-white, hair-like scales; forewing upperside, except for the outer margin, almost completely covered with scales, creamy with black-grey markings: costal margin and basis greyish irrorated; broad spots across the whole width of the cell at about 3/10 and 6/10 of the cell length and at discus, reaching R1; crossvein black; a small black cross-spot between R2 and R-stem at about 2/3 of forewing length; all other dark markings less densely scaled; a broad cross-fascia at nearly 2/3, at M3 bent inwards and reaching the inner margin at about 1/2 of the wing length; a moderately broad, submarginal cross-fascia across nearly the whole wing width, posteriorly dissolved in separate spots; outer margin not completely covered with slender black scales in moderate width; fringe dark grey, cream-white between veins; hindwing upperside cream-coloured; inner margin broad black-grey, emarginated in middle of cell, at end of cell inwardly dentate and immediately before anal angle again with long, roundish, inward emargination; immediately posterior to middle of costal margin and postdiscally, between M1 and M2, towering above M2, a round red, big white centered and black ringed, eye-like spot each; submarginally, a row of 6 black-grey spots between veins, the anteriormost indistinct, roundish, followed by two elongate spots, the fourth somewhat broader, outwardly adjacent blueish, the two posteriormost round and blue centered; close to the outer margin, a moderately broad, indistinct grey fascia; fringe dark grey, creamy between veins, black at inner margin; underside of forewings nearly devoid of any scaling, markings of upperside shimmering through, with fatty gloss; underside of hindwing scaled, with similar markings like on upperside, but additional red, white-centered spots in the dark area at inner margin between Sc and R, in cell and posterior to cell, as well as two cross-oriented spots in the emargination before anal angle; the blue of the three submarginal spots lightened whitish; underside of thorax and legs till femora with long, grey- and brown-white, hair-like scales; legs otherwise black; abdomen black, covered with long, grey- and brown-white, hair-like scales, scarcely on upperside, denser on underside.

Distribution:

Häuser et al. (2005) record the species only from China and Myanmar. From original descriptions, the vertical distribution is judged to reach from apr. 3000 - 5000 m (Häuser et al. 2005).
