The subspecies shima is distributed in Yemen and SW Arabia (Bozano & Weidenhoffer 2001) and has recently also been found in the United Arab Emirates (Feulner 2002).
On the upperside of the hindwing, the submaginal orange band is very broad, on the underside the colouration is bright orange without black dots (Bozano & Weidenhoffer 2001).
