The subspecies chinensis is distributed from Transbaikalia and the Amur region to China, Corea and Japan (Bozano & Weidenhoffer 2001).

On the forewing upperside, the black dots are large. On the hindwing underside, the ground colouration is orange-grey, with prominent black dots and a broad submarginal orange band (Bozano & Weidenhoffer 2001).
