Distribution:

The typical subspecies is distributed from the Altai to the Sayan mountains in south Siberia and to Mongolia and the Amur region.

Diagnosis:

For the differences to Lycaena splendens (Staudinger, 1881) and Lycaena dabrerai Bálint, 1996 see under the species description. From subspecies labrangi, the typical subspecies is dinstinguished mainly by the lack of a postdiscal series of white triangles on the hindwing underside (Bozano & Weidenhoffer 2001).
