Subspecies labrangi is known only from Gansu in China.


From the typical subspecies, labrangi is distinguished by the presence of a postdiscal row of white triangles on the hindwing underside. Here, the black spots are large. On the hindwing upperside, the fuscous ground colour is divided by orange veins. In the male genitalia, the valvae are somewhat narrower than in nomonal violacea (Bozano & Weidenhoffer 2001).
