Type locality: Austria, Warscheneck
Type: Lectotype : Austria, Warscheneck, 1200 m, on Cotoneaster integerrima, Zucht no. 6 14, 22.viii.1948-E.iii.1949 (Klimesch); in coll. ZSM, Munich.

Synonyms, misspellings, wrong determinations, etc.:
Nepticula nylandriella auct.

Distribution:

The species is distributed in most European countries, except for Belarus, Romania, Albania, Greece, the Iberian peninsula and the large Mediterranean islands (Nieukerken 2019).

Larva. The species has originally been bred from Cotoneaster integerrimus, but the larvae mainly feed on Sorbus aucuparia (Kurz & Kurz 2019). Johansson et al. (1990) also mention Sorbus intermedia, Malus sp. and Amelanchier spicata as further foodplants.

Mine. The mine is a short and slender, but much contorted corridor with a narrow black central frass line throughout.
