Heringocrania Kusnezov, 1941: 19.|
Type: Adela unimaculella Zetterstedt 1839
Synonyms, misspellings, wrong determinations, etc.:|
Paracrania Zagulajev 1992: Type: Micropteryx chrysolepidella Zeller 1851, by original designation.
Remarks. Unless a thorough revision of the genus Eriocrania Zeller, 1851 has been performed, the taxon Heringocrania is treated here as a subgenus. Furthermore, there seems to be no need for further splitment into monotypic genera. Therefore, M. chrysolepidella is assigned to Heringocrania like in previous treatments and Paracrania is rejected into synonymy tentatively.
The two recognized members of Heringocrania, i.e. Eriocrania (Heringocrania) chrysolepidella (Zeller, 1851) and Eriocrania (Heringocrania) unimaculella (Zetterstedt, 1839), occur in north-west, north and central Europe, as well as in Romania and in the south of the European part of Russia (Karsholt, 2004). E. unimaculella is also reported from the west Siberian plain (Dubatolov 2012).
