From the species composition, Zeller (1839) clearly refers to Micropterix Hübner, 1825, simply emending the original spelling without any further notice. Under Micropteryx, he lists the following species: calthella L., aruncella Sc., allionella Costa [from the given synonymy and the distribution this obviously must be Micropterix aureatella (Scopoli, 1763)], anderschella Hb. [presently treated as synonym of Micropterix paykullella (Fabricius, 1794), but identity uncertain], sparrmannella and fastuosella. Here, the latter has been newly described under Micropteryx, but presently belongs to Eriocraniidae (being a member of the Eriocrania subpurpurella-complex, which seems to contain three different species (Karsholt pers. comm.). Also an Eriocraniid is Eriocrania sparrmannella (Bosc, 1791), but the other are true Micropterix species also in the modern sense.
