Hübner´s painting quite clearly refers to Micropterix aureatella aureatella (Scopoli, 1763), which is distributed throughout most parts of Europe, except large areas in the Mediterranean region. It is very unlikely, that it shows the much more locally distributed Micropterix trifasciella Heath, 1965 (south-western Alps) or Micropterix wockei Staudinger, 1871 (central Greece). The painting is the only available material of the taxon T. ammanella, a genitalia investigation is therefore not possible.
