The taxon T. podevinella is presently treated as junior subjective synonym of Phalaena aruncella Scopoli, 1763 (= Micropterix aruncella (Scopoli, 1763)): See Zeller et al. 2007.

Desciption of adults: Examined: Scan of original painting by Hübner (1813). The painting (see above picture) shows a small moth of Tineoid-like habit. Head black; antennae 3/4 of forewing length, filiform, fuscous; thorax light greyish-brown with faint purple tinge; forewings golden greyish-brown with indistinct, ill defined light markings; fringe fuscous; hindwings light grey, fringe fuscous.

Due to its small size, the interpretation of Hübner´s painting as Micropterix aruncella (Scopoli, 1763) is somewhat speculative, although convincing. Magnification of the picture does not contribute to further clarification, since the impression becomes even more confuse. Nevertheless, we follow recent publications (e.g. Zeller et al. 2007) and interpret the figure as male of M. aruncella. The painting is the only available material of the taxon T. podevinella, a genitalia investigation is therefore not possible.
