The type specimen of M. nuraghella differs from typical Micropterix aruncella (Scopoli, 1763) only by the lack of silvery white wing markings on the forewing upperside. In the male genitalia, there have been found no differences (Zeller et al. 2007). Due to the lack of further material, it is impossible to decide whether M. nuraghella is only a form or a distinct subspecies of M. aruncella.
