(zoological nomenclature: synonym, available)

General information:

Allancastria Bryk, 1934
Synonyms, misspellings, wrong determinations, etc.:

The species of Allancastria have been recorded from the central and southern Balcans, Asia minor and the Levant to the Caucasus in the northeast and Iran in the southeast (De Prins, 2004, Häuser, 2006).

Allancastria is readily distinguished from typical Zerynthia Ochsneheimer, 1816 by the presence of 3 small tails on the hindwings, although these tails are missing in some species.
